Drinks are always available, as they know that giving guests a free bottle of water every day is worth the tiny price of making someone happy vs. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, you're treated like royalty - from being offered a glass of wine, to breakfast, snacks and dessert every day. While there are certain areas of the hotel that could use a little updating, that can be more than overlooked by the exceptional service that is provided here. After staying here and then at the Westin next to the convention center, I can say for certain that I would stay here again for sure. I stayed here for two nights before heading over the river to a convention as a way to check out the city.

I managed, but of course the next morning I was head-smacking myself for being ridiculous. So, there I was, in this beautiful room in this wonderful hotel, and I couldn't seem to talk myself into walking downstairs to ask about softer pillows because I might encounter a guest of the noncorporeal type. But one of the challenges of traveling solo (anywhere, not just in Savannah) is dealing with the squeaky little "but what if it really IS haunted?!?" voice in the back of my mind.

Frankly, I'm fairly agnostic about the whole ghost thing.in broad daylight, anyway. I could probably have requested softer ones but my failure to do so is related to my second complaint (which is more an observation of my own mental state than legitimate complaint), and that one is utterly ridiculous but I'll share it anyway: Savannah is advertised as one of the most haunted cities in America, and the House claims to have a spirit or two hanging about. The first is entirely mundane-the pillows were a bit firm for my tastes. The staff is friendly without being obsequious, and the location in the historic district was everything I had hoped. This was all for me! The House is absolutely beautiful. I chose the Eliza Thompson House because I was traveling solo, and neither the hubs nor my teenage son is into the Historic Inn thing. On a recent road trip to Florida, I decided to take my time and indulge in a night in Savannah.
